Ukraine expects 1.5M more doses of coronavirus vaccine by March 31 – Stepanov
He said this in an interview with Ukraine TV Channel, which was published on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.
“We have a contract for 2 million doses, which should be delivered in the first quarter, until March 31. We expected 500,000 doses, 500,000 doses arrived. This is the amount that the Indian government has given us permission for export. Governments of the US, the EU and India restrict exports and issue export quotas. There have been my two appeals to the government, and there will be an appeal by the Prime Minister to his colleague to give us permission for these 1.5 million,” he said.
Stepanov added that the delivered 500,000 doses are designed for the vaccination of 250,000 people. Thus, each now vaccinated citizen will receive the second dose from this batch. The second dose should be given in 28 days.
As reported, on February 23, Ukraine received the first batch of the Oxford/AstraZeneca (Covishield) vaccine, developed by Oxford University and AstraZeneca, which was purchased at the expense of the state budget.
