More than 76% of COVID-19 hospital beds equipped to provide oxygen – health minister

Out of 66,000 hospital beds designated for the treatment of COVID-19 patients in Ukraine, 55,409 beds are equipped to provide oxygen, according to Health Minister Maksym Stepanov.

“As of today’s morning, there are 66,000 beds designated for COVID-19 patients in our country. There are 66,003 beds, to be precise. Of which, 55,409 beds are equipped to provide oxygen. This is 76.4% of the total amount. There are 34,987 available beds with oxygen. This is almost 35,000. I’d like to remind that as of today’s morning, there are 22,802 [coronavirus] patients in hospitals, where they receive treatment,” Stepanov said at a briefing, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

He noted that the issue of available hospital beds and provision of beds with oxygen for coronavirus patients had been completely resolved.

As reported by Ukrinform, a total of 1,078,251 coronavirus cases were recorded in Ukraine on January 4, including 4,158 new COVID-19 cases registered in the past 24 hours.
