Ukraine reports 4,158 daily COVID-19 cases

A total of 4,158 new coronavirus cases have been recorded in Ukraine in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 1,078,251, Health Minister Maksym Stepanov has said.

"Some 4,158 new cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) have been recorded in Ukraine as of January 4, 2021. In particular, those who have fallen ill include 170 children and 163 health workers," he wrote on his Facebook page on Monday.

He said that 73 deaths, 4,693 recoveries and 1,526 hospitalizations were recorded in Ukraine on January 3.

Stepanov noted that 13,128 coronavirus tests, including 11,021 PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests and 2,107 ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) tests, had been performed in Ukraine in the past 24 hours.

The highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases was registered in Zaporizhia region (528), the city of Kyiv (504), Lviv region (352), Mykolaiv region (314), and Kyiv region (301).

A total of 4,576 COVID-19 cases were recorded in Ukraine on January 2.
