Ukraine reports record number of COVID-19 hospitalization in past day

"Over the past day, the largest number of COVID-19 cases was registered in Kyiv city (532 cases), Kharkiv region (510), Lviv region (402), Odesa region (338), Ternopil region (306)," Health Minister Maksym Stepanov said at a briefing, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

He noted that 5,728 people, including 311 children and 203 health workers, had contracted coronavirus in past 24 hours. As of today, the total number of coronavirus patients in Ukraine is 256,266 people. Over the past day, a record number of 990 hospitalizations was recorded.

"To date, more than 19,000 patients with confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis or with respective symptoms stay in hospitals," Stepanov said.

Moreover, a record number of coronavirus deaths – 108 – was recorded in Ukraine over the past 24 hours.
