Health Ministry to spend more than USD 30M to purchase medical equipment, PCR test kits

The Ukrainian Health Ministry intends to spend USD 30.3 million of loan funds received from the World Bank to purchase medical equipment and PCR test kits to fight the spread of COVID-19.

Health Minister Maksym Stepanov stated this at a briefing on September 5, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.  

According to Stepanov, the Health Ministry is currently holding talks with UN agencies regarding the purchase of medical equipment, materials and devices for Ukrainian hospitals and laboratory centers.

In particular, Ukraine is planning to spend USD 1.2 million to purchase PCR test kits and USD 23 million to get laboratory equipment and devices for PCR testing.

As reported by Ukrinform, in April 2020, the World Bank and Ukraine signed a $135 million loan agreement to modernize the healthcare sector and fight the spread of COVID-19.
