Over 30% of Ukrainians support ban on communist symbols - poll
The results of the poll were presented during an online press conference at Ukrinform on Thursday, July 16, according to the agency's correspondent.
"As for the question that arises from the law on decommunization 'How do you feel about the decision to ban communist symbols?' there is a trend similar in the attitude of Ukrainians towards the decision to condemn the USSR as a communist totalitarian regime. We see that about a third - 32% - agree with this, and about a third - 34% - do not agree. The percentage of those who do not care about it is 26%, and these are people it is still worth working with," an analyst at the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation, Serhiy Shapovalov, said, presenting the study.
The nationwide survey was conducted by the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation together with the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology from April 17 to 22, 2020 in all regions of Ukraine, except for Crimea and the occupied territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. A total of 2,000 people were interviewed. The poll's margin of error does not exceed 2.2%.
