Zelensky: Quarantine should not be extended for more than a month
"We should not rush into extending the quarantine for a long time. We should consider how the situation develops. Everyone is tired of this quarantine. We need a clear framework for how we will extend it, so that people have the opportunity to live safely, so that business can function, so that economy does not stand still. Therefore, as of now, we will extend [quarantine] for a month, but not longer," Zelensky said at a conference call with participation of representatives of the Government and law enforcement agencies, the President’s press service reports.
In turn, Health Minister Maksym Stepanov informed that a resolution on changes in quarantine had already been elaborated.
In particular, the regions will be divided into "green", "yellow", "orange", and "red" zones with clear criteria for restrictions. Restrictive measures are planned to be introduced depending on the situation that arises in a particular populated locality of the region.
As July 16, Ukraine reports 56,455 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases. Over the past 24 hours, 848new cases were recorded.
The adaptive quarantine is in force in Ukraine until July 31. Restrictive measures can be mitigated or toughened depending on the epidemic situation in each region.
