Ministry of Culture reviewing program for financing Ukrainian Book Institute

The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports is reviewing the program of financing the Ukrainian Book Institute, Minister Volodymyr Borodianskyi has written on his Facebook page.
“The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports is reviewing priorities of financing the Ukrainian Book Institute. We believe that introducing a culture of reading as a social norm should be a core activity of the Ukrainian Book Institute. Now, unfortunately, Ukrainians read less,” he wrote.
Borodianskyi stressed that it is important that Ukraine can be represented at major international book fairs. Also, the number of translations of Ukrainian authors should be increased and conditions for expanding the book supply of quality Ukrainian publications be created.
According to the minister, the funds will be also used to support young authors, as well as borrow the best practices of modern publishing.
