Film about women in Donbas shortlisted for BAFTA

Short film Anna, co-produced by Ukraine, Israel and the UK, has been shortlisted in the BAFTA’s British Short Film category.

The film tells the story of single mother Anna who lives in war-torn eastern Ukraine and brings up a 16-year-old daughter. Anna works at a meat processing plant and dreams of a better life. One day she goes to a party arranged for foreigners travelling in search of love.

Ukrainian actress Svitlana Barandych played the lead role.

Anna became the winner in the Best British Short category of 2019 British Independent Film Awards.
