First Lady, UNICEF Representative in Ukraine discuss school nutrition and bullying

First Lady of Ukraine has discussed the achievements and challenges in protection of children's rights with UNICEF Representative in Ukraine Lotta Sylwander.

 “On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, President’s wife Olena Zelenska met with UNICEF Representative in Ukraine Lotta Sylwander. The parties discussed the achievements and challenges in protecting the rights of Ukrainian children,” reads the statement on the website of the Head of State.

The UNICEF Representative in Ukraine expressed commitment to the school nutrition reform initiated by the First Lady’s team and willingness to cooperate.

In addition, Lotta Sylwander drew the attention of the President's wife to the acute problem of bullying in schools and social networks, which, according to research, girls are more often exposed to.

Olena Zelenska and the UNICEF Representative in Ukraine agreed to hold a meeting and share their vision of solving these problems.

UNICEF defends children's rights in 190 countries. The United Nations Children's Fund opened its representative office in Kyiv in 1997. During this time, the Fund has provided assistance to the Government of Ukraine to the tune of $130 million enabling the development and implementation of a number of programs in the field of healthcare, education and protection of children's rights, etc.
