70th anniversary of Ukrainian settlement in South Australia marked. Photos

“A special Commemorative Dinner to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of Ukrainian Settlement in SA was held on Saturday 20 July,” the Association of Ukrainians in South Australia posted on Facebook.

A presentation on Ukrainian immigration to Australia and the display boards collated by Lydia Makowijczuk and borrowed from the Ukrainian Women’s Association were organized.

Entertainment for the night was by the guitar-violin Tuske duo and Orysia Hopko who composed and presented a poem specially written for the anniversary event.

The participants in the festive event were also treated to traditional Ukrainian food and cakes.

The guest had an opportunity to view the photos, documents and memorabilia related to the arrival of Ukrainians in South Australia in 1949.
