Ukrainian search and rescue dogs enter world’s top 100. Photos

Four canine teams of Ukrainian rescuers entered the world’s top 100 teams according to the International Search and Rescue Dog Organisation (IRO).

The corresponding ranking was published on the organisation's website and takes into account professional skills, as well as the level of training of dog handlers and their four-legged assistants in the period from June 1, 2018 to July 22, 2019, the press service of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reports.

“As of July 8, four representatives of the State Emergency Service are among top 100 world’s canine teams: Anna Kunichyk and Asya (the Malinois), Iryna Davydenko and Amina (the Malinois) from the Interregional Rapid Response Center (Romny town, Sumy region); Serhiy Lukhin and Chris (the Dachshund) from the Training Center of the Civil Defense Operational Rescue Service (Vatutine village, Kharkiv region); Valeriy Radchenko and Satti (the Malinois) from the Mobile Rescue Rapid Response Center," the statement reads.

As noted, the Malinois sisters Amina and Asya are ranked 22nd and 69th respectively in the category "Searches in a natural environment."

In turn, another representative of the Malinois breed, Satti, showed the 68th result in the category "Search in technogenic debris."

The only Dachshund search and rescue dog in Europe, Chris, occupies 90th position.
