CNN edits photo report with 'Russian' Simferopol

U.S. television channel CNN has edited its New Year's photo report in which Simferopol was mistakenly designated as a Russian city, Ukraine's Embassy in the United States has reported on Twitter.
"We appreciate the timely reaction from the CNN team! The mistake with designating Simferopol in CNN's photo gallery has been corrected," the report says.

Earlier, CNN in its photo report on New Year's celebrations around the world called occupied Crimea and Simferopol part of Russia. Ukraine's Embassy in Washington called on CNN not to "follow Russia's playbook," recalling that Simferopol is a Ukrainian city on the Crimean peninsula that was occupied by Russia.
