Poroshenko, Groysman wish western rite Christians merry Christmas

"I sincerely congratulate the Christians of the western rite on Christmas! Christmas is a holiday of hope for the best, enveloped in mystery and family warmth. I wish you the joy from angels, the wonder from shepherds, the enlightenment from wisemen and peace and love from a born God!" the President posted on Facebook.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman also published his congratulations on Facebook.

"Today, the world celebrates Christmas according to the Gregorian calendar. I congratulate all the believers of western rite on this holiday! May joy reign in the heart of every Ukrainian, and your nearest and dearest be with you today," the Prime Minister wrote.

Christians of the western rite celebrate Christmas on December 25, according to the Gregorian calendar. In 2017, a law declaring December 25 a public holiday in Ukraine was passed in the Parliament and signed by the President.
