The Ukrainian diaspora is grateful to the Canadian Government for helping Ukraine develop democracy and counter Russian aggression.

First Vice-President of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress Alexandra Chyczij said this on Thursday, December 6, while commenting on the allocation by Canada of $24 million for monitoring of elections in Ukraine and a number of other initiatives in the field of democratic development.

"As Ukraine faces escalating Russian aggression and interference, Canada's leading role in supporting Ukraine is critical.  The UCC commends the Government of Canada on today's commitment," Chyczij said.

She stressed that the assistance provided by Canada would have a significant impact on the development of Ukraine as a democratic state. "The initiatives announced by the Government of Canada will be impactful in ensuring free and fair elections in Ukraine, and in supporting Ukraine's continued democratic development," Chyczij said.

On December 6, Canada announced the allocation of up to $24 million to organize monitoring of elections in Ukraine, achieve gender equality and improve governance.
