NABU investigates abuse of power by ex-PM Yatsenyuk, Justice Minister Petrenko

The press service of the Ukrainian Justice Ministry told this to an Ukrinform correspondent, when asked whether reports in the media about a criminal case opened against the ex-premier are true.

"Pursuant to the decision of the investigating judge of the Solomiansky District Court of Kyiv on November 1, 2018, information was included in the single register of pre-trial investigations on the grounds of a criminal offense stipulated by Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine," the press service said.

At the same time, the ministry declined to name the plaintiff on whose request the court ordered the opening of criminal proceedings.

In October, some media reported that a district court in Kyiv ordered NABU to launch an investigation against former Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, Justice Minister Pavlo Petrenko and two Justice Ministry officials.

In this regard, the Justice Ministry stated that reports in the media regarding abuse of office by senior officials of the Justice Ministry as part of the acquisition of legal services to represent the state of Ukraine in the lawsuits of minority stockholders of PJSC Ukrnafta at the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (Sweden) are not true.
