UN experts have ranked Ukraine 88th in the Human Development Index (HDI) among 189 countries where the situation was evaluated by a number of parameters of the quality of human life.

The document was published on the official website of the United Nations Development Program.

The Human Development Index in Ukraine is set at 0.751. For comparison, top-ranked Norway has an index of 0.953, whereas Switzerland and Australia (second and third) have 0.944 and 0.939 respectively. The top ten also includes Ireland, Germany, Iceland, Hong Kong, Sweden, Singapore, and the Netherlands.

At the bottom of the table are South Sudan, the CAR, and Niger, with the indexes of 0.388, 0367 and 0.354 respectively.

According to the United Nations Development Program, the Human Development Index "provides a brief overview of the state of human development - snapshots of current conditions as well as long-term trends in human development indicators." At the same time, the report took into account such indicators as life expectancy, duration of studies in schools, gross national income per capita, etc.

In 2016, Ukraine ranked 84th in the global human development rating with an index of 0.743.
