The Times apologizes for map with 'Russian' Crimea

British newspaper The Times has presented apologies for the June 9 World Cup supplement in which Crimea was shown as being part of Russia.

"A map in Saturday's World Cup supplement wrongly showed Crimea as part of Russia. The overwhelming majority of nations (including the UK) refuse to recognize Russia's 2014 annexation of Crimea from Ukraine and have condemned it as contrary to international law. We apologize for the mistake," a statement posted on the newspaper's website says.

As reported, the Ukrainian Embassy in the United Kingdom described as unacceptable an image of Russia's map with the occupied Crimea in British newspaper The Times.
