U.S. state of Kansas recognizes Holodomor as genocide of Ukrainians

U.S. state of Kansas has recognized the Holodomor of 1932-33 as the genocide of the Ukrainian people and proclaimed 2018 as the year of remembrance of the victims of this tragedy.

"One more state of the United States of America has recognized the Holodomor of 1932-33 in Ukraine as the genocide of the Ukrainian people. The proclamation establishing 2018 as the year of remembrance of the victims of this tragedy in Kansas was signed by Governor Jeff Colyer," the Embassy of Ukraine in the United States posted on its Facebook page.

As noted, Kansas became the 10th U.S. state, which recognized the Holodomor of 1932-33 as the genocide of the Ukrainian people, thanks to the joint efforts of Ukrainian diplomats in the United States and Ukrainian Americans.
