Poland issued over 1.16 million visas to Ukrainians last year

Polish consular institutions in Ukraine issued more than 1.16 million visas to Ukrainians last year. The percentage of denials was 3.8% of the total number of visa applications.

The Polish Foreign Ministry stated this in response to the information inquiry of an Ukrinform correspondent.

The largest number of visas was issued in 2017 by the Consulate of Poland in Lviv – over 443,000 thousand (37.9%). A significant number of visas last year was also issued by the Polish consulate in Lutsk - over 257,000 (21.9%). The Polish consulate in Vinnytsia issued to Ukrainian citizens more than 150,000 visas (12.8%), in Kharkov - over 147,000 (12.6%), in Kyiv - over 115,000 (9.9%), and in Odesa - more than 55,000 (4.7%).

The total number of visa denials was 45,000 or 3.8% of the total number of visa applications.

Since 11 June 2017, a visa-free regime has been introduced for short-term trips of Ukrainians to the majority of EU countries, in particular to Poland. At the same time, Ukrainians must obtain a Polish national visa to get job in Poland.
