The number of single mothers has increased 22-fold over 15 years in Ukraine, and every fifth child is born out of wedlock.

Ukrainian Social Policy Minister Andriy Reva said this during a press conference, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Every fifth child in Ukraine is born out of wedlock, the number of single mothers has increased 22-fold over 15 years, and therefore I believe that our main task is to provide youth with housing construction programs,” Reva said.

In addition, he added that 10% of Ukrainian couples split in the first year of marriage, while in the civilized countries this figure is 1%.
