President Poroshenko signs laws on state support for domestic movie production
This is reported by the press service of the Head of State.
The Head of State noted that the given amendments were the continuation of support for the production of national films for the development of the industry and the integration of Ukraine into the world cinematography.
He reminded that in spring, the Law of Ukraine "On State Support for Movie Production in Ukraine" was adopted, the effect of which has already given concrete results.
“Today we can state that we already have concrete practical results of this Law. If in 2013 the number of viewers who went to the cinema to watch Ukrainian movies equaled about 190 thousand a year, this year we expect a figure that will significantly exceed a million, and in 2016 it was about 900 thousand,” Petro Poroshenko stated.
The President noted that 35 new Ukrainian movies had been shot and screened in 2016, being the largest number since independence.
The Head of State noted that the amendments to the Customs Code of Ukraine and the Tax Code of Ukraine would promote further support and development of production of high-quality domestic movies and films.
The amendments introduce 5-year VAT and import duty exemption for equipment used in movie production. In addition, VAT relief is provided for the distribution of national and foreign films synchronized in the state language.
