The funds were raised at the annual NATO Charity Bazaar at the Alliance Headquarters. Ukrainian diplomats, members of their families and representatives of the Ukrainian community in Belgium took active part in the event.
"The NATO fiftieth charity fair was of particular importance for Ukraine. The Alliance would transfer the greater share of the raised funds to the Puhachivsky orphanage for girls with special needs in Zhytomyr region," Inna Prystaiko, the wife of the Head of the Mission of Ukraine to NATO, told an Ukrinform correspondent.
As noted, the funds are allocated for carrying out repair works and buying equipment for the institution. "We are sincerely grateful to sponsors from Ukraine, artists from the Carpathians, Crimean Tatar potters, designers of Ukrainian embroideries, Kyiv confectioners and other craftspeople who helped us not only to represent such a different but united Ukraine but also to collect the necessary funds," Prystaiko noted.
