Foreigners adopt 308 Ukrainian orphans this year

The foreigners adopted 308 orphans and children deprived of parental care from Ukraine as of November 1 this year.

This is reported by the press service of the Social Policy Ministry of Ukraine.

"According to the Ministry’s department for children's rights and adoption, 308 Ukrainian orphans and children deprived of parental care were adopted by foreigners as of November 1, 2016," the statement reads.

It is noted that 266 out of 308 children (or 86% of adopted orphans) were adopted by US citizens.

As specified, 25% of children out of the total number of those adopted by US citizens are children with special needs, while almost 50% are teenagers.
