The Day of Liberation from Fascist Invaders is marked today in Ukraine.

This holiday is celebrated annually on October 28, the day of final ousting of the Nazi Germany troops and their allies from the current territory of Ukraine during the World War II.

The Hungarian and German troops were made to leave the western region of Ukraine on October 28, 1944.

The holiday was established by the Presidential Decree of October 20, 2009 "with the purpose of the nationwide commemoration of Ukraine's liberation from the fascist invaders, honoring the heroic feat and sacrifice of the Ukrainian people in the World War II."

Today, the leadership of the state and representatives of the authorities will take part in the events dedicated to the Day of Ukraine's liberation from the fascist invaders.
