16 Ukrainians killed in fires for the first day of 2018

In Ukraine, 16 people died in the fires during the first day of 2018.
This has been reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
"It's sad to inform that we began the New Year 2018 with a rather abysmal record. A total of 16 citizens died in the fires in the housing sector on January 1," the report said.
At the same time, the number of household fires almost doubled – the State Emergency Service recorded 110 cases on that day.
According to the report, negligence of citizens and deliberate disregard for fire safety were among the main causes of the fires.
