Over 190 thousand Ukrainians fell ill with flu and acute respiratory diseases last week

During the third reporting week of the epidemic season in Ukraine, more than 190 thousand Ukrainians fell ill with influenza and acute respiratory diseases; one death from flu-related complications was registered in Kyiv.

This has been reported by the Ukrainian Health Ministry’s center for disease control and monitoring of diseases.

“During the third reporting week of the epidemic season, 190,205 people, including 55.7% of children under the age of 17, fell ill with influenza and acute respiratory diseases. The sickness rate among the Ukrainian population totaled 446.6 per 100,000 people, which is by 4.7% compared to the previous week,” reads a report.

The highest sickness rate for influenza and acute respiratory infections was registered in Volyn region – 745.5 per 100,000 people, while the lowest rate – in Kharkiv region – 281.2 per 100,000 people.

The epidemic threshold was exceeded in three regions of Ukraine: Volyn region – by 27.1%, Zakarpattia region – by 15%, Dnipropetrovsk region – by 12%.
