KYIV, February 10 /Ukrinform/. Ukrainian biathlete Vita Semerenko has brought the first medal for Ukraine at the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi (Russia), Ukrinform reported.

The Ukrainian won the bronze in the 7.5 km sprint on Sunday.

Slovakia's Anastasiya Kuzmina won the gold, and Russia's Olga Viluhina took the silver.

Semerenko's sister, Valia, took 12th place. Olena Pidhrusha from Ternopil finished 26th, and Yulia Dzhyma from Kyiv finished 42nd.
