Ukraine 5th after Day 5 of London Paralympics
KYIV, September 4 /UKRINFORM/. Ukraine are on the fifth place in team standings after Day 5 of the 2012 Paralympic Games in London.
The Blue-Yellows won 42 awards (15 golden, 12 silver, 15 bronze medals).
Shot putter Andriy Holivets won the fourteenth gold medal for Ukraine. Oleksiy Pashkov was second in discus throw.
Swimming continues to be a major source of medals for Ukraine. The Women's 100m Freestyle - S3 silver went to Olha Sviderska, the bronze in the Men's 100m Breaststroke - SB11 was claimed by Oleksandr Mashchenko and the silver award in the same women's event was taken by Yana Berezhna.
Maksym Veraksa grabbed the gold in the Men's 200m Ind. Medley - SM 12.
In table tennis Yuliya Klymenko won the bronze, and Antonina Khodzhynska got the silver award. Another bronze went to Viktoria Safronova.
China continue to take the medal count lead at the Paralympics with 112 medals (46 golden, 31 silver, 35 bronze awards), followed by the UK with 63 medals (19, 25, 19). The third place is taken by Russia with 49 awards (16,20,13).
