Shmyhal, Jorgensen discuss Ukraine's energy needs

Shmyhal shared details of the call in a post on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

In particular, the minister briefed the commissioner on the current situation in Ukraine. According to Shmyhal, the most difficult situation at present is in Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Dnipro, Kharkiv, and Odesa.

Shmyhal outlined the priorities of the Ukrainian Energy Ministry, including restoring energy facilities damaged by Russia, protecting infrastructure, and modernizing new capacities for electricity generation and transmission.

"I emphasized the needs of Ukraine's energy sector: transformers, generators, mobile substations, and equipment necessary for rapid repairs," Shmyhal wrote.

He noted that Ukraine is counting on the continued flow of assistance through existing mechanisms, including the Ukraine Energy Support Fund and AidEnergy.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha earlier instructed foreign diplomatic missions to initiate urgent fundraising efforts during the winter cold and amid brutal Russian terror.

Within three days, more than PLN 2.5 million (about $700,000) has already been raised as part of a nationwide Polish fundraising campaign for generators for Ukraine titled "Warmth from Poland for Kyiv."
