Over 11,000 companies close in Ukraine this year: Which sectors have longest lifespan
“11,223 companies ceased operations in Ukraine this year. The peak of closures occurred in September, when 1,464 enterprises simultaneously shut down,” the report states.

Most company closures were registered in Kyiv, accounting for 1,289, or 12%, of the total. This was followed by the Dnipropetrovsk region (824 closures), the Lviv region (772), the Odesa region (738), and the Kyiv region (589).

By sector, non-governmental organizations led in closures, with 1,498 ceasing operations since the start of the year. Significant losses were also observed in wholesale trade (1,001 companies), education (981), public administration and defense (966), and agriculture (794).

The average lifespan of companies that closed this year varied widely. The most enduring were joint-stock companies, with an average age of 28 years and 7 months. Local government bodies followed closely at 27 years and 10 months, and state enterprises at 26 years and 7 months.
Companies in the education sector averaged 23 years and 10 months, healthcare 23 years and 7 months, and veterinary services over 22 years. In contrast, the “youngest” sectors among those most frequently closing this year were IT and security services, with an average age of around 5 years.
The shortest lifespans were recorded for charitable organizations (5 years), service cooperatives (7 years and 5 months), and LLCs (8.5 years).
These calculations were based on sectors in which more than 100 companies closed over the eleven months of 2025.
As reported, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a standardized format and list of mandatory data for business plans submitted under state programs supporting small and medium-sized enterprises.
