Germany's contribution to UESF will reach EUR 450 million – Reiche
Germany's Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, Katherina Reiche, announced this at a joint briefing with Ukrainian Energy Minister Svitlana Grynchuk in Kyiv, Ukrinform reports.
"We are increasing our contribution to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund. Germany has already contributed EUR 390 million, and we agreed on another EUR 30 million this summer. Today, I would like to announce an additional investment of EUR 30 million. Thus, our total contribution will reach EUR 450 million. This will be a solid investment, accounting for roughly one-third of the entire fund," said Reiche.
She emphasized that these funds will be used to purchase technical equipment to support Ukraine's energy sector.
The minister noted that Germany has also supplied 32,000 energy-related items, thanks to which more than one million people in Ukraine now have access to electricity. Reiche added that representatives of German energy and defense companies were part of the delegation, noting that German businesses see great potential for cooperation with Ukraine.
As reported by Ukrinform, Germany's Minister of Economy, Katherina Reiche, paid an unannounced visit to Kyiv on Friday, October 24.
Earlier, Ukraine's Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko stated that Germany had contributed EUR 60 million to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, which will be used to supply generators, energy equipment, and mobile thermal power stations
