Romania's largest energy company targeted in cyberattack

Teams of specialists are working closely with national cybersecurity authorities to manage and eliminate the incident in order to resolve the situation as quickly as possible, identify the source of the attack and curb its consequences, Electrica said in a statement.

It is noted that the company's critical systems were not affected, and any failures are the result of temporary internal measures to protect infrastructure.

Electrica added that the company’s priority is to maintain continuous electricity distribution and supply, as well as protect personal data.

At the same time, Electrica urged its subscribers to “be alert to any suspicious messages received on behalf of the company and avoid providing personal data through unsecured channels.”

As Ukrinform reported earlier, UK Cabinet Secretary Pat McFadden said that Russia and other adversaries of the United Kingdom are trying to use artificial intelligence to intensify cyberattacks on the country’s infrastructure.
