Naftogaz counts on gas storage, production cooperation with Europe
The relevant statement was made by Naftogaz Group CEO Oleksiy Chernyshov in Brussels during his two-day working visit, an Ukrinform correspondent reports, referring to the company’s press service.
“Our goal is to strengthen cooperation with our European partners in terms of keeping their gas reserves in Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities and launching joint gas production projects in Ukraine,” Chernyshov noted.
In his words, the issues of gas storage and production, visions for the development of Ukraine’s oil and gas sector, and the experience of passing through the heating season amid the full-scale war are expected to be discussed at a meeting of the NATO Political Committee.
“As a result, I look forward to deepening our cooperation, which is important for the energy sustainability of both Ukraine and Europe,” Chernyshov added.
As part of the two-day visit to Brussels, Naftogaz Group CEO Oleksiy Chernyshov has scheduled meetings with Vice-President of the European Commission for Interinstitutional Relations Maroš Šefčovič, European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson, European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi, as well as Member of the European Parliament, Head of Committee on Industry, Research and Energy Cristian Silviu Bușoi.
A reminder that Ukraine offers EU countries more than 10 billion cubic meters of free space in gas storage facilities as part of preparations for the winter period.
