Ukrainians buying fewer petrol- and diesel-powered cars - Ukrautoprom

In February 2023, Ukrainians bought fewer passenger cars with traditional engines than a year earlier.

The Ukrautoprom Ukrainian Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Association said this in a post on the messaging app Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"Compared to last year, in the structure of the February market for new passenger cars, petrol- and diesel-powered cars lost 8 and 4 percentage points respectively," the report said.

At the same time, the share of hybrid and electric vehicles grew by 3% and 9% respectively.

According to Ukrautoprom, in the structure of the new car market in February, the share of petrol-powered cars was 51%, diesel-powered cars - 21%, hybrid cars - 16%, electric cars - 11%, and LNG-powered cars - 1%.

In the structure of used cars that were registered in Ukraine in February 2023, the share of petrol-powered cars made up 47% (-7% compared to February 2022), diesel-powered cars - 35% (+1%), electric cars – 9% (+7%), LNG-powered cars – 6% (-2%), and hybrid cars – 3% (+1%).

As was reported earlier, in February 2023, Ukrainians purchased more than 2,700 new passenger cars, almost half as much as in February last year. At the same time, 13,500 used cars were imported.
