Poland raises concessional loan to EUR 160M for investment projects in Ukraine

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has endorsed an order to make amendments to the Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Poland, regarding the increase in the amount of concessional loans provided for the implementation of investment projects in Ukraine.

The relevant statement was made by the Ukrainian Finance Ministry, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

In particular, the loan amount increased by EUR 60 million to EUR 160 million. The deadline for signing contracts was extended from December 31, 2022 to December 31, 2024. The provision regarding the requirement to receive at least 60% of expenses of Polish origin for the purchase of customs control technologies was cancelled. Amendments to the contracts signed during 2017-2018 were enabled, regarding the increase in their price without limiting the size of the increase.

The loan funds will be distributed as follows:

Ukravtodor – EUR 94.1 million (to develop road infrastructure on the approaches to five checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Polish state border);

State Customs Service – EUR 58.9 million (to equip such checkpoints as Shehyni, Krakivets, Rava-Ruska; purchase  mobile scanning systems for such checkpoints as Yahodyn, Shehyni, Krakivets and Rava-Ruska);

Administration of the State Border Guard Service – EUR 7 million (to purchase unmanned aircraft systems and state border monitoring technologies).

The order also approved the draft Protocol between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Poland on amendments to the Agreement, and authorized Ukrainian Finance Minister Sergii Marchenko to sign this Protocol.
