Since the beginning of 2022, Ukraine has paid off $1.5 billion in foreign debt.

Oleh Ustenko, adviser to the President of Ukraine on economic issues, said this during a nationwide telethon on Ukrainian TV channels, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"We had to repay $3 billion for this year. We have already repaid $1.5 billion this year and we have another $1.5 billion left to pay off until the end of the year," he said.

According to Ustenko, the Finance Ministry of Ukraine approved the right decision, requesting creditors to postpone foreign-debt payments.

As Ukrinform reported, earlier the Group of Creditors of Ukraine from the G7 countries and members of the Paris Club of creditors announced their readiness to suspend Ukraine’s debt service obligations until the end of 2023, with the possibility of extending this suspension for a year (until 2024).
