Ukraine’s public and publicly guaranteed debt reached $92B in September

Ukraine’s total public and publicly guaranteed debt reached UAH 2,445.52 billion in the hryvnia equivalent or $92.02 billion in the U.S. dollar equivalent as of the end of September, Ukrinform reports, referring to the press service of the Finance Ministry.

“As of the end of September 2021, the total public and publicly guaranteed debt of Ukraine amounted to UAH 2,445.52 billion in the national currency equivalent ($92.02 billion in the foreign currency equivalent). Compared to the previous month, the public and publicly guaranteed debt of Ukraine decreased by UAH 39.8 billion in the hryvnia equivalent and by $510 million in the foreign currency equivalent,” reads the report.

In particular, the public debt grew by UAH 31.1 billion in the hryvnia equivalent ($296 million), publicly guaranteed debt increased by UAH 8.7 billion ($213 million).

At the same time, as of the end of September 2021, the share of public debt in the hryvnia equivalent grew by 40.2%.

In September 2021, the Finance Ministry held 23 auctions for the placement of domestic government bonds and raised UAH 20.7 billion to the state budget. In addition, in September, the state budget received a part of the allocation of IMF’s Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) equivalent to about UAH 37.9 billion or SDR 1 billion.

As Ukrinform reported, as of December 31, 2020, Ukraine’s total public and publicly guaranteed debt reached UAH 2,551.88 billion in the hryvnia equivalent or $90.25 billion in the U.S. dollar equivalent.
