The Embassy of Germany in Ukraine has submitted to the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy a proposal by the Ukrainian side to transport additional 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year via GTS Ukraine on special terms.

"We received this proposal from Ukraine and submitted it, as well as all other proposals of the Ukrainian side, to the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. We will discuss it intensively," German Ambassador to Ukraine Anka Feldhusen said at a press conference on Monday, October 25, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

She added that Germany together with Ukraine was trying to preserve gas transit through Ukrainian territory.

At the same time, the Ambassador noted that gas transit would one day stop completely, so Ukraine should work on the future of its gas transmission system to further ensure hydrogen transit in order to become energy independent and be able to export energy itself.

On October 22, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov informed that Ukraine offered Europe an additional transit of 55 billion cubic meters of gas on "special terms".

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Friday evening that additional transit capacity could be provided at a discount of up to 50% of the current tariff in the contract between Naftogaz and Gazprom.
