Ukrinform
NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine intends to develop biogas and hydrogen production, according to Naftogaz CEO Yuriy Vitrenko.

"Among other things that we are going to do is the development of biogas. That is, in addition to the issue of natural gas production, to significantly increase biogas production," Vitrenko said at the VI International Kyiv conference organized by Newfolk OGCC within the International Trade Fair OILGASEXPO - 2021, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

According to Vitrenko, Ukraine can produce biogas from agricultural waste, household waste etc. Moreover, production can be launched on the sites that are currently used in the oil and gas industry, using the existing gas transportation infrastructure.

"Hydrogen production from natural gas is also of interest to us and international partners.," Vitrenko said.

As Ukrinform reported, the Cabinet of Ministers instructed NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine and JSC Ukrgasvydobuvannya to increase gas production volumes and provided all the necessary tools for that.

In January-September 2021, compared to the same period last year, JSC Ukrgasvydobuvannya reduced gas production by 4.8% to 10.2 billion cubic meters.
