Zelensky, Microsoft president discuss projects in Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Microsoft President Brad Smith have discussed the expansion of the company's presence in Ukraine.

The head of state wrote this on Twitter, Ukrinform reports.

"We are building a digital state, and it is extremely important to us that the data of Ukrainians be stored in cloud services in Ukraine," the presidential press service quoted Zelensky as saying.

Zelensky called on Microsoft to consider creating the infrastructure of the Azure data center in Ukraine.

Both parties discussed ways to deepen cooperation and implement joint projects.

"We are interested in further expanding Microsoft's presence in Ukraine and deepening cooperation in the context of the digital transformation of our country," Zelensky said.

Zelensky briefed Smith on Ukraine's achievements in the implementation of digitization and prospects for the development of the national IT market. He noted that one of the best tax and legal regimes for IT companies is currently being created in Ukraine.

Zelensky and Smith discussed the involvement of Microsoft in the development of an electronic voting system, as well as products using artificial intelligence technologies.

In addition, both parties discussed the issues of establishing cooperation in the development of anti-corruption programs for the authorities in Ukraine, combating disinformation and cybersecurity.

Zelensky also invited the president of Microsoft to visit Ukraine.

Zelensky took part in the opening of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly in New York on September 21.
