Coal reserves in TPP warehouses fall by 4% – Ukrenergo

As of August 30, there were 720,000 tonnes of coal stocks in the warehouses of Ukrainian thermal power plants (TPPs), which is 4% less than reserves as of August 25 (750,000 tonnes), according to the press service of National Power Company Ukrenergo.

"As of the morning of August 30, there were 720,000 tonnes of coal in the warehouses of TPPs, which is 4% less than on the morning of August 25 (750,000 tonnes). In particular, gas coal reserves decreased by 4.2% to 480,000 tonnes compared to August 25, and anthracite coal reserves - by 3.6% to 240,000 tonnes," reads the report.

Ukrenergo stressed that according to the fuel accumulation schedule approved by the Ministry of Energy, there was 2.2 times less coal in TPP warehouses than there should be on August 30. In particular, there were 2.4 times less gas coal stocks than provided for in the schedule, while anthracite coal stocks - 1.7 times.

As reported, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that Ukraine needs at least 2 million tonnes of coal to pass through the heating season smoothly.
