More than USD 2.7 billion in non-refundable financial assistance received from the International Monetary Fund last week will help increase social benefits to citizens.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal wrote about this on Facebook when commenting on the economic results of the past week.

"Ukraine received more than USD 2.7 billion in non-repayable aid from the International Monetary Fund this week. These funds are part of the distribution to support the economic recovery of the IMF member countries after the negative effects of the pandemic. The received financial assistance will contribute to macroeconomic stability, as well as provide an opportunity to increase social benefits to citizens," Shmyhal said.

As Ukrinform reported, on August 2, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved a general allocation of Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) equivalent to $650 billion for the recovery of the global economy, with $2.7 billion to be transferred to Ukraine.

On August 23, Ukraine received 1.9 billion Special Drawing Rights (SDRs), equivalent to about $2.7 billion, from the International Monetary Fund.
