Passenger traffic in Ukrainian transport companies grew by 7%

In total, over the first five months of 2021, almost 1.03 billion passengers used the services of domestic transport companies, which is 1.4% more compared with January-May 2020.

In particular, the number of passengers carried by rail in January-May 2021 reached 29.9 million, which is 6.8% more compared with the same period last year; passenger turnover totaled 5.07 billion passenger-kilometers (down 17.8%).

Some 426.9 million passengers were carried by motor vehicles in January-May 2021, which is 1.5% more compared with the same period last year, passenger turnover amounted to 7.11 billion passenger-kilometers (down 5.1%).

Ukrainian airlines carried 2.4 million passengers over the reporting period, which is 20.0% more than in January-May 2020; passenger turnover amounted to 5.67 billion passenger-kilometers (up 10.5%).

As Ukrinform reported, according to the State Statistics Service, the passenger turnover of transport enterprises amounted to 49.4 billion passenger-kilometers in 2020, which is down 53.9% compared with 2019.
