Ukrzaliznytsia generated almost UAH 39M of profit in May 2021

"We are confidently pursuing a stable profitability. For the second month in a row, the company completes its work with a profit - we received a positive financial result of almost UAH 39 million in May. We continue to improve operating work and develop the freight business, which is the main source of our company’s profitability," said Acting Chairman of the Board of Ukrzaliznytsia Ivan Yuryk.

According to him, amid the financial crisis and the fight against the pandemic, Ukrzaliznytsia suffered a loss of UAH 693 million in January 2021, UAH 534 million in February, UAH 448 million in March, whereas the profit amounted to UAH 35 million in April, and almost UAH 39 million in May.

Ukrzaliznytsia reminds that in May 2021, the company increased the turnover of freight cars by 20.5% compared to the same period of the pre-crisis 2019.

As Ukrinform reported, Ukrzaliznytsia suffered UAH 11.9 billion of net losses in 2020. In March 2021, the government approved the company's consolidated financial plan for 2021, which provides for UAH 3.6 billion of profit and significant investment in the renewal of rolling stock and infrastructure.
