Ukrainian state-owned banks got UAH 23.1B in profit in 2020 – Finance Ministry

In 2020, Ukrainian state-owned banks received UAH 23.1 billion in profit, the press service of the Ukrainian Finance Ministry reports

“In 2020, public sector banks got UAH 23.1 billion in profit. At the same time, the profit of JSC CB PrivatBank amounted to UAH 25.3 billion (61.3% of the total profit of the banking system), JSC Ukreximbank recorded a loss of UAH 5.6 billion,” reads the report.

Since the beginning of 2020, the loan portfolio of bank customers decreased by 1.1% (UAH 2.5 billion), in particular, due to quarantine restrictions.

In the fourth quarter of 2020, there was a slight increase in loan portfolio (by 0.1%, or UAH 0.2 billion). In 2020, the volume of customer funds in banks increased by 20.8% (UAH 126.5 billion). In particular, funds of legal entities grew by 24.9% (by UAH 62.2 billion), funds of individuals - by 20.7% (by UAH 70.2 billion).

As Ukrinform reported, in 2020, Ukrainian banks generated UAH 41.3 billion in net profit, which is 29% less than in 2019, when the banking sector earned UAH 58.4 billion.
