Passenger traffic through Ukrainian airports dropped by almost 65% in 2020

In 2020, the passenger flow through Ukrainian airports decreased by 64.4% compared with 2019, according to the State Aviation Service of Ukraine.

In particular, the passenger traffic through Ukrainian airports amounted to 8.665 million, including 7.628 million passengers served on international flights.

In 2020, the number of passengers carried by Ukrainian airlines decreased by 65%, to 4.793 million passengers.

In 2020, Ukrainian airlines operated 44.2 thousand commercial flights, which is 57.2% less compared with the previous year. The number of international flights dropped by 60.1%, to 34.6 thousand.

As reported, in March 2020, Ukraine suspended scheduled passenger flights due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On June 5, 2020, Ukraine resumed domestic flights, on June 15 - international flights.

As reported by Ukrinform, in 2019, the passenger traffic through Ukrainian airports rose by 18.5% compared with 2018 and amounted to 24.336 people. Ukrainian airlines operated 102.6 thousand commercial flights, which is up 2.4% from 2018.
