National Intellectual Property Office established in Ukraine in 2020 – Economy Ministry

The National Intellectual Property Office - State Enterprise “Ukrainian Institute of Intellectual Property" (Ukrpatent) was established in Ukraine in 2020, the press service of the Economy Ministry reports.

"In 2020, the government successfully completed an institutional component of the reform of the state system of intellectual property legal protection, by creating the National Intellectual Property Office, the functions of which are entrusted to the State Enterprise “Ukrainian Institute of Intellectual Property" (Ukrpatent)," reads the report.

The National Intellectual Property Office is the only state office in Ukraine which performs processing and examination of intellectual property rights applications; provides for the state registration and grants intellectual property rights titles of protection; publishes official editions in the sphere of intellectual property; carries out information, educational and innovative activity needed for examination of applications and further development of the examination body, issues patents and certificates etc.
