Ukraine works on integrating its energy markets into European ones and supports the European "green" course.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said this during the first German-Ukrainian Energy Day, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Ukraine has always been and remains a reliable partner of Germany and the whole of Europe. We are consistently working to integrate our markets into European ones, remain a reliable gas transit country and share the goals of the European ‘green’ course... Integration of the Ukrainian energy system into the European market will significantly increase its stability, and energy independence of Ukraine will guarantee the security of electricity supplies to the regions of Central and Eastern Europe,” Shmyhal said.

The prime minister noted that Ukraine is completing work on the preparations of the Second National Determined Contribution, the Integrated Energy and Climate Plan for the period until 2030, and is starting to develop the Energy Strategy until 2050. According to Shmyhal, for Ukraine, the introduction of the European Green Deal opens up broad prospects for the effective operation of many sectors of the economy.

In addition, Shmyhal stressed that Ukraine aims to become a full-fledged partner of the EU in the implementation of the EU Hydrogen Strategy. This is facilitated by the significant potential and available infrastructure. The Energy Ministry, with the support of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), is currently working on a roadmap for the development of the domestic hydrogen market.

The prime minister invited German colleagues to join the work on developing the Concept of Hydrogen Energy of Ukraine.
