Energy Ministry finalizing concept of reforming coal industry

The Energy Ministry of Ukraine is finalizing a concept of reforming the coal industry to submit the project for government approval.
"We are approaching the final presentation of the concept of reforming the coal industry before approval by the Cabinet of Ministers. This is one of the key points to move towards decarbonization," First Deputy Energy Minister Olha Buslavets said.
As reported, the Energy Ministry has already completed the preparation of a draft concept for reforming the coal industry, which is aimed, in particular, at optimizing state budget expenditures.
During the preparation of the concept, the Energy Ministry is studying the experience of Germany in transforming coal monocities into modern innovation centers.
In cooperation with international partners, the ministry plans to launch pilot projects for the transformation of coal mines.
